Welcome at the Internet Website of the State Archive of the Capital City of Warsaw

Archival materials contain valuable documents illustrating various aspects of life. These documents serve as a basis for historical and genealogical research as well as research into private property in the City of Warsaw and in the Masovia region. We hope that our website will make our institution more open to you through publishing information related to the history and holdings of the Archive, its most interesting collections, the areas they cover, and, finally, the possibilities to reach access to these archival materials. We collect, preserve and provide access to information useful for cultural and scientific purposes as well as for other needs of our customers.
The website contains also forms which after filling in may be mailed to the State Archives or to our Divisions. This may facilitate your research.
